Despite this, the village remains famous for its annual fish cooking event, a grand barbecue gathering that has been a cherished tradition for over two decades. Originally held after the six fasting days of Shawwal, the event has now been scheduled during major holidays, enabling a larger participation of people, including visitors from outside the village. The fish cooking event aims to strengthen social bonds among the islanders while showcasing Uligan as an exemplar of harmony and friendly coexistence.

Leading the Way in Renewable Energy Innovation
Uligan shines as a pioneer in renewable energy initiatives, boasting the world’s first hybrid microgrid windfarm. Though currently non-operational, this groundbreaking project once provided electricity service through its turbines, demonstrating the village’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
