The majority of the journey lies ahead, and there’s no doubt that the wholehearted support of the island council and all stakeholders will be essential for the successful completion of this remarkable endeavor. Once this monumental task is accomplished, Saajin, also known as Zuvaan Masveriya, will have meticulously documented and shared the captivating narratives of all our islands, with a special focus on the state of our fisheries across the archipelago.

Saajin, widely recognized as Zuvaan Masveriya, embarked on his expedition, “From North to South,” in January of this year. His mission revolves around documenting the condition of fisheries in local islands, as well as delving into their unique cultures, traditions, cuisine, and the lives of their inhabitants. Up to this point in his journey, he has successfully visited all the inhabited islands in Haa Alif and Haa Dhaalu Atolls and is now setting his course for Shaviyani Atoll.

This extraordinary journey commenced from Thuraakunu, located in the northernmost part of the Maldives. Saajin then ventured to explore all the islands within that atoll, including the historically renowned Matheerahfulhu. He devoted three months to this atoll, meticulously gathering experiences and information.

During his voyage, Saajin dedicated five months to visiting every island in Haa Dhaalu Atoll, encompassing the lives of its residents. Beyond the populated islands, he also explored Keylakunu, one of the oldest islands in the atoll, diligently collecting historical information.

Eight months into this extensive journey, Saajin encountered numerous challenges. Rough seas and inclement weather posed difficulties in obtaining information, photographs, and videos, thereby extending the duration required to complete this colossal undertaking.

In addition to documenting island information, Saajin conducted dives and gathered insights about the interconnected reefs and lagoons associated with numerous islands. Videos providing comprehensive details about the two atolls have been uploaded to Zuvaan Masveriya’s YouTube channel. Furthermore, stories and photographs of these islands have been shared on Instagram and Facebook. The journey also gave rise to the documentation of significant events, personal narratives, and other essential aspects, all of which have been published on Zuvaan Masveriya’s website.

This monumental data collection effort stands as one of the most comprehensive in the country and will undoubtedly become a valuable historical archive. The journey still has a significant portion left to be explored, and there is no question that the unwavering support of the island council and all stakeholders will be crucial for its triumphant completion. Once the work is finished, Saajin, known as Zuvaan Masveriya, will have shared the captivating stories of all the islands, particularly focusing on the state of fisheries across our archipelago.

Having completed the two northernmost Atolls, Sasjin is now setting his sights on Shaviyani Atoll. He plans to broadcast the atoll’s compelling stories through his YouTube channel, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
